NEW Domain Names Coming!
The "dot com" Internet address suffix now has seven new
extensions .
On Thursday November 16th, the Internet's governing body made a
major change to the future of the World Wide Web, approving seven new top-level domains to
complement the existing .com, .net, .org, .edu, and .gov.
The board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) chose
.biz, .info, .name, .pro, .museum, .aero, and .coop -- and rejected a slew of other
options proposed by industry players. There were 44 applications submitted, including
.kids, .web, .geo, and .iii.
The new domain names are expected to become available to businesses
and consumers by the middle of next year.
Several SCAMs associated with pre-registering the new domains have
